We see twilight. The platform, somewhere in the distance you can see the train, bright bundles of light come from it. The platform is completely deserted. The rails are wet since it has been raining recently. In the puddles the lights are reflected fantastically. It is possible that very soon again a prolonged rain will pour, which will not end until the morning.

Levitan creates a magnificent landscape in which, at first glance, there is nothing special. This is a common picture that can be seen every day. How can she be beautiful? Levitan is a true master. He sees splendor where an ordinary person notices only dullness and gloom.

The picture was painted with rather gloomy colors. But, despite this, the viewer does not create a gloomy impression. The thing is that she knew how to use a play of light and shadow. Yes, the sky is rather gloomy. Clouds still hang over the platform, and, quite possibly, they will rain again. But the gleams of light in heaven and on earth inspire hope that after the night there will be day, and after the rain the sun will come out again.

Levitan does not just depict a deserted platform. He gives us his impressions that this picture made on him. Wide strokes of his brush snatch rails from the darkness, trees in the distance, orange flashes in the sky. It seems that Levitan wants to tell us that the familiar can also be beautiful. You just need to see and feel it. There is no sadness in gray gloom, since one must always believe in the best.

Levitan was a master of landscape. This fact is widely known. But here we look at the artist with different eyes. It turns out that he masterfully portrayed not only the beauty of nature, but also the city. He sees something special where, it would seem, he is not at all. But he’s a master at that, to notice the special and to notice the almost elusive.

Levitan helps us to perceive a depressing station in a completely different way, which, as it turns out, is able to inspire a lot of curious thoughts.
