Vincent Van Gogh is a great impressionist, who created many magnificent still lifes. One of the main postulates of post-impressionism is the image of the world of things that conveys the materiality of our world. Van Gogh looks in a special way at the simple world of things, finds beauty in the elementary. The artist's still lifes were recognized as innovative, he turned work on them into an experiment and artistic search.

Vincent Van Gogh's painting Still Life with Gladioli was painted in 1886. She does not depart from the usual performance of still lifes with Van Gogh flowers, as always the picturesque flowers are painted in the artist's free creative manner. It would seem that ordinary flowers in a vase are depicted on the canvas, but Van Gogh can show the ordinary beautiful. He sees beauty in the inner essence of objects and spills it on the canvas.

With this picture, the master sings the vibrant beauty of flowers. They are depicted in bright colors. All the shades on the canvas are bright and saturated, but the bright red petals of gladioli are very striking in the center. To contrast with the splendor and brightness of gladioli in a vase, Van Gogh also depicts asters. They are smaller, faded, just white, but also incredibly vibrant and beautiful. Several asters that did not fit in the vase were casually thrown on the table.

The greenery of the bouquet is not so saturated, in comparison with the petals, it merges with the green wall. The leaves are clearly drawn, a light shadow lies on them. In the background, a wall of green shade turning into brownish-yellow. The table is also brown with a yellow tint, most likely a wooden one. For contrast, the table is spelled out schematically, rusticly, but the vase and flowers are painted accurately and clearly. The vase itself is green with a white intricate pattern. In general, the picture leaves a pleasant impression on the audience, it is poetic.
